OrCam, an Israeli company that helps the blind to see, is among the 38 most valued health start-ups in the world

The Israeli company OrCam, which developed a device that helps people with visual disabilities, would be among the 38 health companies considered “unicorns”, that is, valued at more than one billion dollars.

OrCam is the only Israeli company on the list of “unicorns” in the area of ​​health prepared by the renowned company CB Insights. The country with the largest number of companies on the list is the US with 21, followed by China with 9, the United Kingdom with 3, Germany with 2, and France, Switzerland, and Israel with one each.

The list includes companies in the area of ​​health backed by venture capital and having a market valuation of over one billion dollars. The best-rated company on the list is the American Sumamed (12 billion).

OrCam, founded by the creators of MobilEye, Ziv Aviram, and Amnon Shaashua, is located in Jerusalem and recently managed to raise more than 30 million dollars and reach a valuation of 1,000 million dollars.

The technology created by OrCam allows to “see” people with visual disabilities through a device that adheres to lenses and serves as an artificial eye for the user and then transmits a voice message to the user with the reading of what the device is seeing, For example, the device can recognize people or products that it then transmits to the user.
